US$2.5bn Argentina copper project receives environmental green light

Argentina’s San Juan province has given Canada’s McEwen Mining the green light to advance the US$2.5bn Los Azules copper project, as a feasibility study is expected for the first half of next year and construction starts in 2026. Los Azules is planned to produce 192,500t/y of copper in the first two years and average 180,000t/y in nominal production over a 27-year mine life.
