Argentina is well-positioned to become an exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), according to market experts. LNG demand in Europe and Latin America, including Brazil, are reasonable outlet options. “The general assumption in Argentina is that Brazil has natural gas resources and can eventually redirect production towards domestic consumption”. Nevertheless, the success of LNG exports from Argentina will be dependent on the competitiveness of upstream gas and the way the LNG infrastructure needed – mainly a dedicated pipeline and subsequent facilities – is financed.
