This week, Argentina is set to sign a pivotal agreement with the United States aimed at increasing investment in the exploration of essential minerals like copper and lithium. This agreement integrates Argentina into the Mineral Security Partnership (MSP), a group led by the U.S. and including 14 other nations along with the European Union. The MSP’s objective is to reduce global reliance on China for minerals critical to technologies like electric vehicle batteries and solar panels. Additionally, the agreement does not solve Argentina‘s exclusion from lithium production incentives under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, due to the absence of a free trade deal with the U.S.
