The economy ministry triggered the start of a tendering process for the project, put forward under the private initiative model by midstream player TGS last year and later declared to be of national public interest. Compression work would boost capacity of the Vaca Muerta debottlenecking gas pipeline to help substitute winter imports of LNG and liquid fuels. The compression initiative unveiled last year would require around US$500mn and is one of two TGS projects designed to increase pipeline transport capacity by mid-2026 to 35Mm3/d from the current 21Mm3/d.
