Consumption in Argentina has dropped below the pandemic and 2001 levels as the South American country’s economy continues its erratic behavior under Libertarian President Javier Milei.Purchases in supermarkets, grocery stores, and small and medium-sized businesses fell 16.1% yoy in July, in addition to the 12.4% drop recorded in June. In the first week of August, consumption is believed to have fallen an additional 21%. The downward streak began in January with a 3.4% drop.
