Equinor, a Norwegian energy company, conducted Argentina’s first deepwater drilling in the Northern Argentina Basin block 100, marked the beginning of a significant offshore exploration campaign in Argentina, and highlights the country’s offshore exploration potential. If successful, the project could reach a production volume of 200,000 barrels per day. Despite high expectations, no clear signs of hydrocarbons emerged from this first exploratory venture. Equinor holds a 35% stake in the project, YPF and Shell, the other stakeholders, own 35% and 30%, respectively.
